In less than an hour, the Asbury Park Board of Education will have its monthly meeting and, per the recommendation of Superintendent Rashawn Adams, lay off 28 other staff members. Further down on the agenda you can see that Adams recommends “withholding increments”: this means that the teachers identified by Employee ID won’t get their contractual raises.

Note: there are no lay-offs among Central Office administrators. In fact, Adams has been hiring new administrators, even as enrollment shrinks. Says one Asbury Park staff member, “Adams is just pissed off and taking it out on the teachers because him and his administration have been called out on their ‘shit show’!”

More to come.
