August 18, 2026NJCTL Approval by Workforce Registry Opens Tuition-Free Pathto P-3 Certification for Eligible N.J. Early Childhood Educators
Workforce Registry scholarships can cover full program cost for qualified early childhood professionals; current enrollment window closes August 28 and reopens mid-October
Qualified New Jersey early childhood educators can now earn their Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Standard certificate with scholarships that cover all tuition costs. To learn more about the scholarship, click here.
This new funding follows approval from the New Jersey Workforce Registry for New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning (NJCTL) to be deemed a “Training Agency.”
Through the Workforce Registry program, eligible candidates receive up to $6,000 in scholarship funding per program year. That funding can cover the full cost of NJCTL’s 33-credit, $7,920 P-3 Alternate Route program across two or more program years.
“New Jersey already has talented childcare professionals who have the experience and commitment to become outstanding certified teachers, but the cost of earning additional credentials can stand in their way,” said NJCTL Executive Director Robert Goodman. “This opportunity can remove that financial barrier, helping educators advance their careers while strengthening New Jersey’s pipeline of qualified early childhood teachers.”
The current scholarship window closes August 28 and then reopens in mid-October.
NJCTL’s P-3 Alternate Route program, launched in January 2026, provides aspiring early childhood educators with an accessible pathway toward New Jersey teaching certification. The program is designed to help educators earn the credentials needed to teach preschool through third grade while continuing to advance professionally.
NJCTL is encouraging childcare centers and early childhood education providers throughout New Jersey to share the opportunity with employees who may qualify. In addition to helping staff advance professionally, the program can help employers develop credentialed educators from within their existing workforce and expand New Jersey’s pool of qualified early childhood teachers.
Interested candidates should review NJCTL’s P-3 program and admissions requirements and then apply to NJCTL.
Once admitted to NJCTL, candidates will receive the documentation and instructions needed to apply for Workforce Registry scholarship funding through NJCCIS.
