BRICK Education Network and South Ward Promise Neighborhood (SWPN) hosted “Summer Fun Fest” for Newark families to help prevent summer learning loss and promote a healthy, safe break. Approximately 400 community members were in attendance at the Clinton Avenue Amphitheater where they enjoyed great food, music and games.
“BRICK Education Network is committed to helping our young people receive a strong educational foundation and increasing access to important resources that will help families and students succeed all year long,” said Dominique Lee, Founder and CEO of BRICK Education Network. “Along with South Ward Promise Neighborhood, we were able to give students the tools they need to curb summer learning loss, while having a fun and productive summer.”
To help make this summer a healthy, safe and active one, BRICK Education Network and SWPN distributed free Nike athletic wear to Newark students. Free backpacks full of workbooks and educational reading materials were also distributed at the event to help students prevent summer learning loss.
“At South Ward Promise Neighborhood, we are invested in the community we serve by providing critical support services that help children from cradle to college and a career,” said Nichelle Holder, Chief Program Officer, South Ward Promise Neighborhood. “Our Summer Fun Fest event was a great opportunity to bring community members together and encourage them to have a safe and healthy summer break.”
