September 12, 2023SCOOP: Sussex County GOP Launches Anti-Murphy ‘Sex Ed Mandates’ Campaign
The Sussex County Republican Party is releasing a billboard campaign that will attack the Murphy Administration for its “Sex Ed Mandates,” claiming “no family is safe.”
The image below will appear on billboards throughout the county.
The Murphy Administration’s Education Department has been under attack for mandating that, when students confide to school staff that they are questioning their gender identity, schools may not inform parents unless the student has explicitly given permission or their health and safety is at risk. Currently the Murphy Administration is suing four school districts (Hanover, Middletown Township, Marlboro Township, and Manalapan-Englishtown Regional) for passing policies that require schools to notify parents. The DOE has also mandated that sex ed classes be divided not by biological gender but by gender identity in order to achieve “equity.”
State Democrats also realize the potency of this issue: Last month Senator Vin Gopal (Chair of the Senate Education Committee, Senate President Nicholas Scutari, Senator Joseph Lagana, and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin released statements condemning the DOE for usurping local control.
According to a recent Monmouth University poll, 77% of New Jersey voters feel middle and high schools should be required to notify parents if their child wants to be identified by a different gender than what is on their school registration.
