Dr. Angello Villarreal told NJ Education Report, regarding the announcement below from the U.S. Department of State, “I’m thrilled to share that I have been selected for the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, a prestigious U.S. Department of State initiative, in collaboration with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) that promotes global education and cultural exchange. The U.S. Department of State has recommended to share this accomplishment with our local entities and news outlets. As a teacher at Freehold Township High School and RAISE Academy, as well as a 2022-2023 JerseyCAN teacher fellow, I am honored to represent New Jersey in this international program, where I will collaborate with educators worldwide to bring global perspectives and cross-cultural understanding into our classrooms.
Angello Villarreal, an educator at Freehold Township High School, has received a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Award for the 2025-2026 cycle from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Angello is one of the approximately 400 master teachers and administrators who participate in the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges each year. In addition, approximately 800 individuals teach and conduct research abroad through the Fulbright Scholarship annually. Over 2,000 college students, graduate students, and early career professionals participate in study/research exchanges or serve as English teaching assistants in local schools abroad through the Fulbright Program each year.
Since 1946 the Fulbright Program has provided 400,000 talented and accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds with the opportunity to study, teach, and conduct research abroad. Fulbrighters exchange ideas, build people-to-people connections, and work to address global challenges. Notable Fulbrighters include 62 Nobel Laureates, 93 Pulitzer Prize winners, 82 MacArthur Fellows, 44 heads of state or government, and thousands of leaders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Fulbright is a program of the U.S. Department of State, with funding provided by the U.S. Government. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations, and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the Program, which has operated in 160 countries worldwide. In the United States, the Institute of International Education implements the Fulbright U.S. Student and U.S. Scholar Programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
