Newark’s Gateway Academy Charter School, a part of the BRICK Education Network of schools, is set to host its inaugural Self-Care Empowerment Extravaganza, tailored specifically for middle school girls in 5th to 7th grade on March 27, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The event promises an afternoon filled with inspiration, education, and enjoyable activities, all geared toward promoting self-care practices and enhancing confidence.

Data from a 2023 ROX survey revealed alarming statistics, with approximately 40 percent of girls in 8th through 12th grades and about 35 percent in 5th through 7th grades reporting feeling depressed at least four days per week. Recognizing the importance of addressing these challenges, the Self-Care Empowerment Extravaganza is designed to provide young girls with the essential tools and knowledge to prioritize their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Through engaging workshops, interactive sessions, and uplifting discussions, attendees will delve into various aspects of self-care, the significance of self-love and  developing healthy habits.

This transformative event will feature esteemed guest speakers, including educators, mental health professionals, and motivational speakers, who will generously share their expertise and insights on self-care and empowerment. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities such as yoga, skincare, hair care, art appreciation, and mindfulness exercises.

The Self-Care Empowerment Extravaganza will be held at Gateway Academy Charter School, located at 534 Clinton Ave, Newark, NJ 07108.
