June 17, 2024iLearn Public Charter Schools Named a National Champion
iLearn Schools was just recognized as one of 13 non-profit organization to be declared a “2024 Engage Every Student Program Champions” by the U.S. Department of Education.
“This year’s Engage Every Student Champions are leading the charge in their local communities and states to ensure that all students nationwide have the opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow through their engagement in high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs,” said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. “Thanks to President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, these awardees include a range of organizations all across the country, with nearly half located in under-resourced or rural communities. Every child deserves the opportunities for out-of-school time enrichment these programs provide.”
This honor highlights iLearn’s commitment to providing inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education—with an emphasis on STEAM-based educational and experiential opportunities— for its 5,000 students across its campuses in Northern New Jersey and the Bronx. The public charter school network predominantly serves low-income Black and Brown students. The Engage Every Student Program Champions designation recognizes iLearn’s exceptional dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments, as well as its nnovative approaches and robust educational programs.
“Our mission has always been to provide top-notch education that caters to the diverse needs of our students,” said Dr. Nihat Guvercin, CEO of iLearn Schools. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, staff, students, and families. Together, we are making a significant impact in the field of education.”
iLearn Schools’ comprehensive educational initiatives include the iRise supplemental academic support program, the iStellar enrichment program for gifted students, and the extensive Pathways to College program. These initiatives are designed to ensure that every student receives the support and encouragement they need to thrive academically and personally. These efforts have consistently set iLearn Schools apart as a leader in innovative education.
In April, iLearn Schools was been named the 2024 Charter School Champion of the Year by the New Jersey Public Charter School Association.
