Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP), rated the top-ranked public charter high school in New Jersey by U.S. News and World Report, announced today that State Senator Vin Gopal, Chair of the Senate Education Committee and Senate Majority Conference Leader, will serve as CJCP’s Commencement Speaker for its graduation ceremony taking place on Thursday, June 15th. “As one our area’s great community leaders and one New Jersey’s greatest student advocates, we are thrilled that Senator Gopal has agreed to serve as the Commencement Speaker this year,” stated Dr. Namik Sercan, CJCP’s Chief Education Officer. “A big theme for CJCP this year is showcasing that every New Jersey public school student can succeed if provided with access to great teachers, facilities, and a strong learning environment. Senator Gopal is not only clearly aligned with CJCP’s mission, but has fought hard of to ensure all students, including our states most at-risk and educationally disadvantaged students, are not forgotten. Senator Gopal’s leadership, specifically in Central Jersey, has directly impacted many of our students and I know his words and insights will be a deep impact on our graduates.”

In prior years, CJCP had been named by The U.S. Department of Education as “National Blue-Ribbon School,” the highest possible designation granted to a K-12 school, and has been widely cited for exemplary high-performing classrooms and their work in closing the Achievement Gap within the Central Jersey region. In addition, CJCP has also been awarded by the New Jersey Department of Education with a Tier 1 designation, the highest possible ranking for a public charter school in the State.
