On Tuesday I looked at the peculiar antics at Lakewood Public Schools, where the Board shifted to November elections and then, at a meeting where the pro-November forces were conveniently no-shows, moved elections back to April. The $100 million budget went down, 2,913 to 655, and the slate of candidates pushed by the Orthodox contingency swept. The Asbury Park Press that Lakewood was the only district in Ocean County to stay with April elections and that the district “provides services to 5,000 public students as well as transportation, books, and special education services for 22,000 private school students here.
