November 6, 2023iLearn Schools Receives $462,000 from NJDOE High Impact Tutoring Grant
iLearn Schools has been awarded the prestigious High Impact Tutoring Grant by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE). This grant is part of NJDOE’s commitment to advancing student learning and accelerating academic growth across the state. The four iLearn Schools that have received this grant are Paterson, Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson ASCS.
In addition to supporting our commitment to academic excellence, this grant has provided iLearn Schools with a significant boost of $462,000 to further enhance our iTutor program and strengthen our partnership with the New Jersey Tutoring Corps (NJTC). These initiatives allow us to provide targeted one-on-one and small group support (four students or less) for students in core subject test preparation and diagnostics-driven, standards- and skills-focused improvement guided by iReady and Pearl assessments.
The High Impact Tutoring Grant, which amounts to approximately $41 million in its initial round of awards, is designed to empower school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects to implement highly effective, evidence-based strategies that promote learning acceleration among students.
Dr. Angelica Allen-McMillan, Acting Commissioner of Education, stated, “With the award of High Impact Tutoring grants to our schools, we are not just investing in classrooms, we are investing in the potential of every student. The New Jersey Department of Education is determined to accelerate the academic growth of students across the state. This initiative will be a powerful tool that can help schools empower generations to reach greater heights.”
The approximately $41 million in preliminary High Impact Tutoring grant awards are made possible through federal funding allocated in New Jersey’s Fiscal Year 2024 budget. These grants focus on research-based approaches that have been proven to lead to substantial learning gains, including frequent, extended periods of tutoring with individuals or small groups of students, subject matter aligned to state learning standards, and customized, data-driven instruction.
“Receiving the High Impact Tutoring Grant from NJDOE is a significant milestone for iLearn Schools. This grant, totaling $462,000 for our institution, will allow us to provide even more personalized and targeted support to our students, ensuring they have every opportunity to excel in their educational journey. We are committed to offering a world-class STEAM-based education, and this grant will empower us to further enrich our students’ learning experiences and help them reach their full potential,” said Dr. Nihat Guvercin, CEO and Founder of iLearn Schools.
